APHID / அசுவிணி (செடிப் பேன்)

APHID  

Common Names : 

Aphids are small sap-sucking insects and members of the superfamily Aphidoidea. Common Names include greenfly and blackfly, although individuals within a species can vary widely in colour. The group includes the fluffy white wooly aphids. (Source: Wikipedia) 

Damage Crops:

Squash, cucumber, pumpkin, melon, bean, potato, lettuce, beetroot

Aphids are tiny insects that feed by sucking the nutrient-rich liquids out of plants. Aphids can be brown, green, yellow or black colour. Aphids can be with wings or wingless. Leaves of Aphid affected plants will look curled or stunned. 

Preventing Measures: 

I am sharing my personal experience and also tips that I got from fellow gardeners. 

• Turmeric & Ash :  
• Take 30-50 grams and mix with one litter of water and spray it on the affected area.

• Green Chili and Asafoetida :
• Grind green chili and add with Asafoetia on 1:1 ratio and spray it on the infected area.
• Ash : 
• Ash acts as a pest repellent. 
• Ash should be added with compost.
• Better to add during soil preparation before seed sowing. 
• If sprayed a lot it could kill the plant.  
• Add only one teaspoon of ash to every plant once in a month.                                

• Rice Starch:
• Mix rice starch with Asafoetida and soap nut 
• Spray this solution before 8-9 am.

• Baking Soda:
•  Mix 2 spoons of baking soda in one mug water 
• Spray this for 3 days 

• Wash the plant: 
• Rub off the aphids using toothbrush (do not touch it directly) 
• Spray water (force) on the affected area. 

• Camphor oil:    (Source : Organic farmer : Thiru. Shridhar

• 50-100 ml Neem oil (Depending on the age of the plant increase or decrease) 
• Cow urine - 0.5 to 1 liter.
• Camphor (4 to 10 depending on how much plant is affected) 
• Turmeric powder 5 gram, Chalk (சுண்ணாம்பு) 
• Mix the oil in the water by adding shampoo or soap oil. 
• Camphor does not dissolve in water so mix with eucalyptus oil to dissolve. 
• Add turmeric and chalk to this mixer. 
• This is for 15 liter water.

சேத பயிர்கள்:  ஸ்குவாஷ், வெள்ளரி, பூசணி, முலாம்பழம், பீன்ஸ், உருளைக்கிழங்கு, கீரை, பீட்ரூட். 

 தடுக்கும் முறை:   எனது தனிப்பட்ட அனுபவத்தையும் சக தோட்டக்காரர்களிடமிருந்து எனக்கு கிடைத்த    உதவிக்குறிப்புகளையும் பகிர்ந்து கொள்கிறேன்.

• மஞ்சள் & சாம்பல்:  சாறு உறிஞ்சும் பூச்சியான அசுவனியை கட்டுப்படுத்த, மஞ்சள் தூள், சாம்பல் இவற்றை 30-50 கிராம் எடுத்து ஒரு லிட்டர் தண்ணீரில் கலந்து பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதியில் தெளிக்கவும்.

• பச்சை மிளகாய் மற்றும் பெருங்காயம்:    பச்சை மிளகாயை அரைத்து, 1: 1 விகிதத்தில் பெருங்காயத்துடன் சேர்த்து பாதிக்கப்பட்ட இடத்தில் தெளிக்கவும்.

• சாம்பல் :

• அசுவினி போன்ற சாறு உறுஞ்சும் பூச்சிகளிடமிருந்து பாதுகாக்க
• மண்ணோட இறுக்கத்தை உடைத்து பொலபொலப்பாக்கிடவும்
• கம்போஸ்ட்டில் தூவலாம்.
• ஒவ்வொரு மாதமும் ஓரிரு ஸ்பூன் அளவு மண்ணில் செடிகளுக்கு இடலாம்.
• நிறைய தெளித்தால் அது செடியைக் கொல்லும்.

• சாதம் வடித்த கஞ்சியை:
• சாதம் வடித்த கஞ்சியை, பெருங்காயம் & சோப்பு நட் கலந்து காலை 9 மணிக்கு முன்பு தெளிக்கவும். 

• பேக்கிங் சோடா:  ஒரு குவளை நீரில் 2 ஸ்பூன் பேக்கிங் சோடாவை கலக்கவும் 3 நாட்கள் தெளிக்கவும்

• இலைகளை கழுவவும் : பல் துலக்கும் Brush பயன்படுத்தி அஃபிட்களைத் தேய்க்கவும் (அதை நேரடியாகத் தொடக்கூடாது). பாதிக்கப்பட்ட பகுதியில் நீர் தண்ணீரை வேகமாக அடிக்கவும்

• கற்பூர எண்ணெய்: (Source: கரிம விவசாயி: திரு. ஸ்ரீதர்) 
• 50-100 மில்லி வேப்ப எண்ணெய் (தாவரத்தின் வயதைப் பொறுத்து அதிகரிக்கவும் அல்லது குறைக்கவும்)
• பசு சிறுநீர் - 0.5 முதல் 1 லிட்டர்.
• கற்பூரம் (எவ்வளவு பாதிப்பு என்பதைப் பொறுத்து 4 முதல் 10 வரை)
• மஞ்சள் தூள் 5 கிராம், சுண்ணாம்பு 
• ஷாம்பு அல்லது சோப்பு எண்ணெயைச் சேர்த்து தண்ணீரில் எண்ணெயை கலக்கவும்.
• கற்பூரம் தண்ணீரில் கரைவதில்லை, எனவே யூகலிப்டஸ் எண்ணெயுடன் கலந்து கரைக்கவும்.
• இதில் மஞ்சள் மற்றும் சுண்ணாம்பு சேர்க்கவும்.
• இது 15 லிட்டர் தண்ணீருக்கான அளவு.
